Zocalo - Completed Fall 2006
Zocalo Condominiums, the eponymously-named redevelopment of an vacant Denver police station, sold out even before receiving its Certificate of Occupancy. This 42-unit project was completed in the fall of 2006. It voluntarily exceeded the City’s Inclusionary Housing Ordinance, and provided a “Cop Shop” space to be occupied by Denver Police at no cost to the City. Zocalo won the right to redevelop the vacant parcel after receiving the vote of the neighborhood group during a City-sponsored Request for Proposal.
Without doubt Zocalo has become a kernel of positive change in the Jefferson Park neighborhood, facilitating additional development and reinvestment.
